I felt the jolts in my feet
carry me to the place where we’d meet.
It was our post-adolescent stomping ground,
but it took us forever to finally lay down
with each other.

I’ve been through so many seasons (in my life)
and through reasons (in my mind)
and though it took a lot of time,
I finally swallowed my pride
(and I don’t regret it).

Because everything you have to offer is worth it.
So I’ll bear to see you with your perfect love,
and hope in time it won’t sting at all,
because we fell apart in fall,
but we’re re-syncing for spring,
and I’ll sweat this summer,
I’ll work hard for everything.
